Supercut is designed with privacy at its core. Your video files are never uploaded to any server. All video processing, trimming, cropping, adding effects, captions, and more, happens entirely in your web browser using WebAssembly technology (FFmpeg.wasm). Your videos never leave your device.
When you use the AI chat or the editor's Director, we send our AI service the text of your request and basic clip details (duration, dimensions, filename). The Director also receives a short text summary of your timeline.
To plan edits, the AI also receives the transcript of your clips as text, with the time of each word, and their audio levels (how loud each moment is). Both are made on your device.
The Director receives 4 to 8 low-resolution still frames from your clips with each request only if you turn on “Let the AI see a few frames” in the editor's Director. It is off by default. These frames are made on your device, and they go to Anthropic Claude only. No other AI provider receives them.
Your video files never leave your device. Neither do your audio files.
If you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile information through our authentication provider (Clerk). This is used solely for account management and subscription handling.
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card numbers. Stripe may collect information necessary to process your payment in accordance with their privacy policy.
We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics for basic site usage (page views, traffic sources). We also use PostHog for product analytics and session replay, which records the pages you view, the actions you take, and a visual replay of your interactions with the app interface so we can understand where people get stuck. If you are signed in, this activity is associated with your account, including your email and name. Your video files are never sent to any of these tools; all video processing stays on your device.
Supercut uses your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage to save your projects, chat history, edited video outputs, and what Supercut measured about your clips (sound levels and shot changes) locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is not synced to any server. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
We use the following third-party services:
Since video processing is entirely local, we retain no video data. Account information is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since your videos are processed locally and never reach our servers, there is no video data for us to access or delete. For account-related data, contact us at the email below.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice on the site.
If you have questions about this privacy policy, contact us at support@supercut.cc.
