# Supercut > Supercut is a private AI video editor that runs entirely in the browser. You describe an edit in plain English, a model turns that into a structured operation, and FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly runs it on your own device. Video files are never uploaded. - Everything decodes, edits and exports locally. The network call an edit makes carries your request, clip details (duration, dimensions, filename), and the words said in the clip and its sound levels (both worked out on the device), plus a few low-resolution frames only if the person turns that on. It never carries the video file. - It has two editing surfaces: a chat surface where you type the edit you want, and Studio, a multitrack timeline built on Remotion. - It ships as a web app at supercut.cc/app and as a desktop app for macOS and Windows. The desktop app adds a screen recorder, native export speed, and a local MCP server. - It was formerly called CapCutGPT, then UnoCut. Same product and same engine, current brand is Supercut. capcutgpt.com is still live and runs the same engine. - It is built by an independent developer, not by ByteDance, and it is not affiliated with CapCut. ## For agents - [Full text of every page](https://www.supercut.cc/llms-full.txt): the whole corpus in one file - [Markdown catalog](https://www.supercut.cc/md): one Markdown file per page, or append .md to any page URL, or send Accept: text/markdown to any page - [AI usage policy](https://www.supercut.cc/ai.txt): what you may do with this content - [MCP server](https://www.supercut.cc/mcp): Streamable HTTP, no auth, answers questions about Supercut. The same URL in a browser is the documentation page. - [MCP server card](https://www.supercut.cc/mcp.json): both servers, their transports and their tool schemas - [Sitemap](https://www.supercut.cc/sitemap.xml) ## Developer resources - [Developer documentation](https://www.supercut.cc/docs): the index of everything below, in one page - [Hosted MCP server](https://www.supercut.cc/mcp): `claude mcp add --transport http supercut https://www.supercut.cc/mcp`. Tools: search_docs, get_page, list_pages, list_editing_tools, get_pricing, get_local_editing_setup, get_usage_policy. - Local MCP server: http://127.0.0.1:41414/mcp inside the desktop app, bearer token from its Agent panel. This is the one that edits video. - [Editing tool catalog](https://www.supercut.cc/features): all 43 operations with the exact prompt string each one needs - No public REST API. Editing runs on the user device, so there is no server to call. The MCP servers are the programmatic surface. - Corrections and API questions: support@supercut.cc ## Start here - [Open the editor](https://www.supercut.cc/app): the product itself, no account needed for a first export - [Download the desktop app](https://www.supercut.cc/download): macOS and Windows, adds the screen recorder - [Every tool](https://www.supercut.cc/features): all 43 operations with their prompts ## Good for - Privacy-sensitive footage: legal, medical, journalism, unreleased product video - Short-form social video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts - Quick one-off edits with nothing to install - Auto-captions that transcribe on-device with Whisper, so the audio never leaves - Screen recordings and product demos, with click-anchored zooms on the macOS desktop app - Batch processing a whole folder of clips locally, in Chromium browsers ## Not for - Not a cloud service. There is no server-side render farm and no upload step. - Not a collaborative editor. There are no shared projects or multi-user timelines. - Not a good fit for very large files on low-memory machines, because the WebAssembly heap is bound by the browser tab. - Not a mobile app. It runs in a desktop browser or as a desktop app. ## Pricing - 7-day pass: $4.99 once, for 7 days of Pro with no renewal - Yearly: $59.88 a year, which is $4.99 a month - Monthly: $9.99 a month, cancel anytime - Lifetime: $79 once - Free tier: editing and previews are free, and so is the first export, with no account and no watermark. Paid gives unlimited exports. ## Tools (32) - [All tools](https://www.supercut.cc/tools): Landing pages for 32 editing tasks. - [Trim a video online, free, private, no upload](https://www.supercut.cc/tools/trim-video): Trim and cut video in your browser.
